Get Your Ducts in a Row

Removing the vent cover will allow a better look at your air duct system.

Cleaning air ducts is a task best left to a professional duct cleaning service but, luckily, it is actually pretty easy to determine if they need to be cleaned. Opening the vent covers will give you a glimpse into the air duct system to see if there is any dust, grime, or pet dander circulating through the air you’re breathing. Air filters can also be checked for dust. Either of these checks could serve as an indication that you need to contact a professional duct cleaning service.

You can also take a peek at the condition of your heater. The heat exchanger surface will perform optimally if visibly clean. The unit’s blower blades should be clean of oil and debris. The blower compartment must also be clear.

As summer approaches (rapidly) now would be a great time to check on your air conditioner. The coils within the air conditioner should be clear of any dust. Shine a flashlight onto the cooling coil to see if the light is coming out on the other end.  The coil fins should also be spaced evenly and free of any bends or nicks. If any of these parts seem bogged down or dirty, call us before it gets too hot. If you are having issues with your air conditioner don’t sweat it, just give us a call and we will be there to help as quickly as possible. Here is some quick insight into the cleaning process to ensure your ventilation system is running at maximum efficiency:

Our first step would be to clean, or if necessary, replace your air conditioner filter ensuring the ducts will not become bogged down with debris and restrict air flow.  If the filters or ducts are not clean it will lead to air pollution and the air your breathing will be dirty.

After dealing with the filters we will begin to clean the condenser coils. Clean condenser coils will maximize the unit’s energy efficiency. Your SERVPRO of Oakdale/North Bay Shore service person will also check the coolant lines to ensure you are getting the coolest air possible.

The last step would be testing the AC Unit. While the system is running we are able to make sure the unit is functioning properly and the system is cleaned. If there is more work to be done, like fixing a broken part, SERVPRO of Oakdale/North Bay Shore will be able to quickly find the issue and complete the necessary repairs.
